February author events for Beth Holmgren

Starring Madame Modjeska author Beth Homgren has three events lined up for February. The first takes place February 2 at 7 p.m. when the Kosciuszko Foundation in New York City hosts an Author's Evening with Beth Holmgren. You can RSVP to this event by email. On February 25 at 11 a.m., Holmgren will give a reading from her book at McIntyre's Books in Pittsboro NC. For more information, visit the bookstore's website. 

Finally, Holmgren will discuss her book at Flyleaf Books in Chapel Hill, NC. This event takes place February 28 at 7:00 p.m. More details are available on the bookstore's website.

Enjoy an evening of Bloomington history with author Carrol Krause

IU Press author Carrol Krause will be the keynote speaker for "Making Bloomington Modern: The Showers Family Legacy," a free lecture to be held in the Common Council Chambers of Bloomington's City Hall on Friday, February 3 at 7: 00 p.m. Krause will discuss her forthcoming book Showers Brothers Furniture Company and the importance of the Showers family to Bloomington's local history.

The Monroe County History Center has also planned a display of Showers artifacts in the city hall's atrium this month. For more information, please call (812) 349-3507.

Earth Works author Scott Russell Sanders has several events planned for February:

February 2 

Sanders will visit the Clark Pleasant Library in New Whiteland, IN, for a "Pioneers and Picture Books" children's program at 4:30 p.m. Later that day, he heads to Greenwood, IN, to give a reading at the White River Library for a "From the Frontier to the Future" family program at 7:00 p.m.

February 3

Sanders will join Midwestern writers Krista Detor, Philip Gulley, and Carrie Newcomer for an evening of "Miracles, Myths, Lyrics & Lies" at the Unitarian Universalist Church in Bloomington, IN, at 7:30 p.m.

Tickets are $18 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under or students with ID. To purchase tickets, visit the Buskirk-Chumley Theater Box Office.

February 6

Sanders will be interviewed at 3 p.m. (ET) on Ken Rose's radio show What Now. The show is broadcast from California on KOWS Radio Occidental 107.3 FM, but you can also listen online.

February 18

Author event: Super Bowl poetry reading with Norbert Krapf and the Airpoets

As a part of the Indianapolis Super Bowl activities, IUP author Norbert Krapf and his fellow Airpoets (Joyce Brinkman, Ruthelen Burns, and Joseph Heithaus) will be reading at TURF Art Pavilion's Café Corner this Saturday, January 28 from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. Come support Indiana artists and share poetry of your own! Open mic will be held before and after the reading from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.
