Editor's note: This is part three in our Intern Appreciation Week series.
Alex Carlisle is a sophomore majoring in English.
What is your position at IU Press?
I am a design/production intern for the Spring 2012 semester. I am becoming familiar with the various steps involved in producing a physical product. I am in the process of designing a book myself.
What organizations are you involved in on campus?
I recently designed and taught an SAT prep course to seven inner-city Indianapolis students through the Hutton Honors College and the DREAM Alive program. On campus, I have worked with Labyrinth (a literary magazine) and the Undergraduate Scholar (an undergraduate journal).
Why did you decide to intern with IU Press?
I was interested in a position at IU Press because I know that some day soon I will have to translate my English major into something practical, and publications seems a viable option.
What are some of your career goals?
Having said that, I have no idea what I want to do after school. Reality TV star?
