Beginning July 1, Indiana University will establish a new Office of Scholarly Publishing, newly appointed IU executive vice president and provost of the Bloomington campus Lauren Robel announced.
The new office will assume operational responsibilities for IU Press and several related university initiatives, as it aims to strengthen IU's central missions of scholarship and teaching and create a model of effective, sustainable 21st-century academic publishing.
"Building on IU Press’s substantial and important contributions to the core academic mission of Indiana University, the Press’s participation in the Office of Scholarly Publishing, in collaboration with the IU Libraries and the Office of the Vice President for Information Technology, offers us exceptional opportunities to grow in new directions that will enable us to flourish within the changing environment of scholarly publishing," IU Press director Janet Rabinowitch said.
