Denise Von Glahn, author of the forthcoming Music and the Skillful Listener: American Women Compose the Natural World, has been granted a publication subvention from the American Musicological Society (AMS), supported by the the Manfred E. Bukofzer Endowment.
According to the AMS, "[t]wenty books have been granted $40,000 in funds to support publication expenses." Funding for the awards comes from the National Endowment for the Humanities, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and contributors to the AMS.
Von Glahn has also coauthored Leo Ornstein: Modernist Dilemmas, Personal Choices with Michael Broyles. That book was published by IU Press in 2007. Music and the Skillful Listener is scheduled for publication in the spring of 2013.
