This is part four in our Intern Appreciation Week series.
Katie Swintz is pursuing a double major in English and Comparative Literature, working toward a minor in Spanish, and will graduate next spring. She is from Indianapolis and enjoys spending time with her dog, Daisy, an 8-year-old Newfoundland.
Describe your position at the IU Press:
I work in both the managing editorial and acquisitions departments helping out with whatever needs to be done. I proof, I process mail and rejections, I update book files, occasionally process art, prepare complimentary book orders, and basically anything my supervisors can think to ask me to do.
What else are you involved in on campus?
Why did you decide to intern with the IU press?
It seemed like it would be a challenge and a place where I could learn something useful about publishing. Turned out to be true.
What is your dream career?
I want to work with multi-lingual writers in some capacity, probably as an editor.
What are your hobbies?
Reading, sleeping, Netflix. I also hike and kayak on occasion.
