Ellen K. Feder will present a lecture on "Normalizing Atypical Sex Anatomies: A Question of Ethics or Culture?" as part of American University's 2013-14 Celebration of College Research series. The event will take place February 26 from 11:45 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Butler Board Room on the American University campus in Washington, DC.
Feder is the author of an upcoming book on this topic entitled Making Sense of Interesex, which will be released in April. Proposing a philosophical framework for the treatment of children with intersex conditions—one that acknowledges the intertwined identities of parents, children, and their doctors—Feder presents a persuasive moral argument for collective responsibility to these children and their families.
