This month, Sea Monsters: A Prehistoric Adventure opened in IMAX and other specialty theaters. <Watch the movie trailer> The movie follows a dolichorhynchops--familiarly known as a 'dolly'--as she travels through the most dangerous oceans in history. Along the way, she encounters long-necked plesiosaurs, giant turtles, enormous fish, fierce sharks, and the most dangerous sea monster of all, the mosasaur. The film also includes the story of IU Press author Mike Everhart (Oceans of Kansas), and recounts his 1996 find of the oldest known specimen of Tylosaurus proriger, a large mosasaur. <Find a theater>
