An exhibit on Indiana artist William J. Forsyth (1854-1954) opens today at the Indiana State Museum. "William Forsyth: Only the Strong Persist" showcases the work of the most award-winning member of the Hoosier Group, who was known for his volatile personality as well as his artistic versatility. The exhibit runs through March 29, 2015.
The exhibit is curated by Rachel Berenson Perry, who is author of William J. Forsyth: The Life and Work of an Indiana Artist. In this book, Perry draws on Forsyth's personal letters and other sources to offer fascinating insights into his personality, his relationships with his students, and his lifelong devotion to teaching and educating the public about the importance of art.
