Quilts of Southwest China, a new book edited by Marsha MacDowell and Lijun Zhang, is to be featured in a special exhibition at the Mathers Museum of World Cultures in Bloomington, Indiana.
The exhibition, which opens January 21, will feature 24 quilts utilizing expert patching and appliqué techniques.
Quilts of Southwest China discusses the development and perfection of quilt-making techniques and technologies as they pertain to rural China. The book has accompanied exhibits throughout the world, and now folk artists and quilters alike will have the opportunity to view it in southern Indiana.
